
3. During the indentation test the
paint lm generally should show a
plastic but no considerable elastic
deformation. An elastic deformation
could simulate high indentation
resistance because no or only
an insignicant indentation mark
would remain after removing the
indentation tester from the paint
lm.
4. The paint lm must have a uniform,
clean and smooth surface.
5. The table shows the correlation
between identation lenght (in mm),
the indentation depth (in µm) and
the minimum coatings thickness
(µm), for which the measurement is
valid.
Measurements outside of these
tolerances cannot be considered.
